Trip meter 260
Ajo, Arizona
We left Fort Mohave at 10 AM and set out to go down the east side of the Colorado River through Lake Havasu City and into Parker, but through a navigational error ended up going South on California 95 in Needles instead of I-40. Neither of us cared enough to go back and look for the lost turn, so we continued on California 95 to highway 62 which took us into Parker. From Parker we took Arizona 72 south and east to Vicksburg, and from there we took I-10 to within 20 miles of Phoenix, before we turned south on AZ 85 and made a run for the border. Ajo is only 40 miles from the border crossing at Lukeville.
We rolled into Ajo at 4PM and decided since we are staying put for a month, that we would wash the road slime off the bus at a car wash and fill our propane tank which is taking a beating with the cold temps. We have never attempted to wash a 36 foot long, 8'-6" wide, 12 foot tall motorhome with a car attached, in a spray booth at a quarter car wash before. We did learn a few things from this experience.
A. It takes more than 12 quarters.
B. The wash hoses are hell on the rooftop antennas.
C. The process causes marital strife.
The bus is looking good now- however I have some major sucking-up to do to get back into the sunshine with my sweetie.
We are all set-up now and we like this park very well. It looks like we will be in the best possible place to avoid the worst of the cold weather. We'll keep you posted on that last point.
